Past Rideouts

Brands Hatch Race Circuit

Saturday June 2007 saw one of our most memorable rideouts. It was a day that was cherished by all who attended. More than just an average ride, our route would take us to Brands Hatch race circuit where we were to take part in our first club track day.

There were around 11 riders who attended but although the number was fairly small, it‘s possible that we were the first Muslim group to ever warm its tyres on the world famous tarmac.

The rides were split into 20 minute sessions and riders were placed in groups according to their ability. Ali and Usama our 2 most experienced riders rode effortlessly in the top group.

Spills were aplenty and I myself had a fast off at the bend after the fast and dangerous Paddock Hill bend. My tyre was shot and confidence down after a near spill earlier that day. As I leant into the bend and heard that reassuring sound of the plastic from my knee slider scoring the tarmac, as if in slow motion I felt the bike give way from under me and slide of into the distance with me following closely behind on my back. No injuries but my poor baby suffered damage to the right hand fairing.

Another victim of the circuit was by one of our Ninja members who miscalculated the same bend and ended up in the gravel pit. He was quite fortunate and only suffered the humiliation of having to have his bike rescued from the deep gravel.

The worst spill by far was that of Asim on his yellow Honda CBR600. He rode fantastically on that day and rose through the levels with amazing efficiently but he made an inherent mistake of removing his safety peg from his foot peg. As he leant his bike into one of the tight bends, the peg dug into the tarmac and flipped him high into the air. His bike was an unbelievable right off but fortunately he suffered no serious injury.

So that was our most memorable rideout and first track day. Since then we’ve been to Snetterton, Donnington Park, and Cartagena in Spain. This year we hope to enjoy some excellent rides so if you know any good areas, contact us and we’ll try to come and see you and you can show us around.
