Hajj Trip Postponed
Having spent many months preparing for what was to be the trip of a life time, it took a long time for us to accept that this journey was not going to happen this year.
Everything was going well and we even had initial interest from at least two charities but then the Arab Spring took place. At first, it didn't affect us and we carried on happily making plans. However, the inevitable was unavoidable. We needed Syria. That was our gateway to Saudi Arabia. All the planning including fuel costs, milage estimation and routes led to this optimum course. It was too late to change and then the trouble began. At first it didn't bother us but then we started to realise that no-one would want to sponsor an expedition that potentially could endanger the participants and what would be the point of such a journey without sponsors, when the ultimate aim was to raise funds for charities? So that was it. We had to accept our fate. Until next year...
Inshallah (God willing) we hope that our plans will prove successful next year and we pray that the situation in the region gets better for the benefit of all.
